A residential quarter with a long-term perspective

Built in 1963 based on plans of renowned architect Max Taut, the residential quarter with its sprawling green areas and impressive trees originally was to be replaced by the parking place of a planned fashion outlet centre. From 2011 onwards, the residents spent years vehemently protesting these plans, and were successful. The plans for the shopping centre were discarded. After this long period of uncertainty, Brune Real Estate AG & Co. KG acquired the quarter and its 394 flats in 2016. Most of the flats have been renovated by now. Reminiscence of timeless modernity

Max Taut (1884-1967) was a renowned architect with his own office in Berlin in the post-war period. He and Wilhelm Büning founded the university of arts in Berlin. He was on the architects' committee of six for building the Federal capital city of Bonn. As an architect, he implemented renowned projects throughout the Federal Republic. He built the Zinkhüttenquartier in Duisburg based on a straight-lined, functional architecture type with high-quality materials in a contemporary aesthetic. Clinker brick façades in various colours and a perfectly solid building substance still bear witness to his high quality claim.

Living in a true park atmosphere

 Flats with an outdoor seat and a view of nature were in high demand at the time, and continue to be to this day. This residential quarter has implemented this more consistently than most places to be found today. Some of the buildings are spaced far enough apart to place an entire soccer field between them. The many old trees not only provide shade, but also characterise the site's special charisma. As a consequence, we gave the quarter a new, fitting name: Zinkhüttenpark.

Good floor plans, moderate rents

The flats have two or three rooms and are between approx. 40 and 73 m² in size. Each of them has a balcony or a terrace, offering an outdoor seat facing the park. Families, couples and singles are equally comfortable here. The renovated flats have been equipped to the current status. Ancillary costs are limited thanks to gas- or district heating. Our strategy's goal has been achieved: we can offer affordable residential space with a high living quality.

It still exists - a family atmosphere

Neighbours know and like each other. Many tenants like the Zinkhüttenpark so much that they want to stay for as long as they can. Of course, neighbours will meet and engage in regular contact. The park is the place where people socialize, especially the little ones. That is why we have designed the green areas to be spacious and child-friendly. Location – a green corner of Duisburg

The Hamborn district is one of the most urban, yet at the same time one of the greenest districts of Duisburg. It is located at the north-eastern fringes of town. Many city parks invite visitors to linger. Sports associations with diverse leisure time offers are available within walking distance of the Zinkhüttenpark. Local supply is ensured as well. Day care and schools are within comfortable reach, no more than three kilometres away. A consumer market is in direct proximity. The centre of Duisburg Hamborn with its many stores is just a stone's throw away. Anything needed for daily life is sold there.
